  • communicating with applicants, referees, trustees and grant holders;
  • meeting our legal, regulatory and governance obligations as a charitable trust.
We do not use personal data for commercial marketing purposes.

Our lawful basis for processing personal data is that it is necessary for the Foundation’s legitimate interests as a charitable grant‑making body. These interests include the fair, transparent and accountable administration of educational grants.

We have considered the impact of our data processing on individuals and are satisfied that our legitimate interests are not overridden by individuals’ rights and freedoms.

5. Who we share personal data with

Access to personal data is limited to those involved in the administration and assessment of grants.

In some cases, limited information may be shared with other charitable grant‑making trusts (for example, members of the Association of Church College Trusts) where this supports effective grant‑making or helps to avoid duplication of funding.

We do not sell personal data or share it for commercial purposes.

6. How long we keep personal data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary:

  • unsuccessful grant applications are normally retained for a limited period after a decision is made;
  • information relating to successful grants is retained for the duration of the grant and thereafter in line with charity law, financial record‑keeping and audit requirements.

Retention periods are kept under review.

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
